Intel recently launched a new tool that boosts the performance of CPUs through various adjustments. But tests show that the IPO (Intel Performance Optimizations) can outperform the 200S Boost by up to 16% in games, showing that the new feature isn’t that advantageous.

Tests conducted by a user on the Chinese forum Bilibili show that the IPO provides more benefits, delivering more performance in games that demand more from the processor. The setup includes an Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, DDR5-8000 memory, and a GeForce RTX 5090D. The games were tested in 4K and with DLSS enabled in those that support it.

The biggest difference occurred in Counter-Strike 2 (the only game in 1080p), going from 661 FPS with the 200S Boost to 770 FPS with the IPO, a 16% increase in average FPS and 20% in the 1% low (minimum). In the rest of the games, the average FPS increase from one tool to the other was between 2 and 6%.

The Intel Performance Optimizations increases the frequencies of performance and efficient cores by around 200 MHz, as well as communication between dies and memory to 8,400 MT/s. Meanwhile, the 200S Boost limits memory to 8,000 MT/s and only works on specific motherboards and RAM modules for now.
