2025-05-19Presentation made during the Computex, Qualcomm confirmed that the next Snapdragon Summit will take place between September 23 and 25, 2025, in Hawaii. The event is expected to mark the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, a top-of-the-line chip for mobile devices.

The date still represents an acceleration of Qualcomm’s traditional schedule, a process that has been occurring progressively over the years. In comparison, the 8 Elite was presented at the end of October 2024.

Although Qualcomm hasn’t confirmed features of its new chip, some possible details have already emerged in previous rumors.

The performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to be up to 26% superior to the current generation. Although it’s not as significant a leap as the 8 Elite (45% more performance than the previous 8 Gen 3), the evolution of the new chip may still be noticeable.
In terms of graphics performance, it’s expected to have a GPU Adreno up to 30% faster than the current one. This should be possible thanks to a new generation of the N3P 3nm process from TSMC, associated with a new set of Arm v9 instructions and new Nuvia cores.
Which cell phones will have the new Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip?
The first smartphones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 expected to arrive as early as October 2025. Among them are the Xiaomi 16, OnePlus 15, and Realme GT8 Pro, as well as other devices.
On the other hand, Samsung may not use the new chip in the Galaxy S26 line.
However, the expectation is that the performance of the Exynos 2600 will be considered inferior to the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
For now, it’s unclear if the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be able to compete with the A19/A19 Pro chips that Apple will place in the iPhone 17 line. The Dimensity 9500 from MediaTek also emerges as a strong competitor.
The market for high-performance chips for mobile devices will also gain a new rival: the Xring O1 from Xiaomi. It will be officially announced this week, and preliminary tests have shown that the processor delivers performance only 7% slower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
For laptops, there’s a chance that Qualcomm will also announce the Snapdragon X Elite 2 (or X2 Elite) chips at the Summit. However, other rumors suggest that this launch may be delayed until 2026.
