ChatGPT receives updates for WhatsApp with image and voice commands

The OpenAI announced some improvements to the ChatGPT version for WhatsApp on Tuesday night (4). Now, the chatbot profile on the messenger can understand image-based requests and even respond to voice messages.

The integration of ChatGPT with Zap was launched last December and only supported text conversations. The AI still responds in the same format, but it now accepts new commands in other media and brings the experience closer to the original chatbot app.

The developer also reinforced that it has plans to link ChatGPT accounts to WhatsApp and increase usage limits, but did not provide a release date. Gradually, OpenAI is trying to gain space in the app and compete with Meta AI, which is natively integrated into the messaging app, as well as Facebook and Instagram.

How to use ChatGPT on WhatsApp

To chat with the AI and test the new features, you need to add the ChatGPT number to your WhatsApp contacts. Here’s how:

1. Open WhatsApp;
2. Tap the icon to send a message;
3. Select “New contact”;
4. Enter the number +1 (800) 242-8478;
5. Start chatting with ChatGPT using text, audio, and images.
   

   

OpenAI’s new look

The creator of ChatGPT also announced a visual revamp with a new logo and typography. The changes are subtle compared to the previous version, but the brand symbol adopted thinner lines, and all products, including ChatGPT and Sora, will use the new OpenAI Sans font. Besides that, the company’s website (openai.com) allows you to use ChatGPT while browsing other sections.
